YH Magazine Meets Beth Jansen Although Hartford County is where she grew up... it might be hard to catch Beth Marie Jansen, 21, on the street. Recently joining with an agent (8th Wonder Model and Talent), Beth Marie has been a frequent commuter to the fashion capitol of the USA... New York City. Her passion started in acting where at 10 years old, she was the first student to organize, direct, and act in a play at Edgewood Elementary School in Bristol, CT. Since then, she has contributed to many theatrical and film productions here in Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and NYC. Last year, when posing for head shots, photographer Michael Tammaro of NYC, suggested to her that she pursue modeling as well. "I'd rather be doing acting," says Beth Marie, "But when modeling takes off, you'll see me running with it. You have to go where the money is!" MORE AFTER PHOTO.
Her most current project is working on an independent film that is being produced here in Connecticut. "I can't give away too much about it," Says Beth Marie, "But I can say it is definitely a thriller… an Indiana Jones meets James Bond type of movie." She says her favorite parts about filming movies are the "interesting places" she gets to travel to. "I stayed in Philadelphia, PA for a month while doing some background work in a major motion picture ("Our Lady of Victory" coming out in 2008). In this independent film we will be doing some work in caves just outside of Albany, NY. It should be fun!" When Beth Marie isn't driving to and from NYC, or busy working on a project, she is most likely networking or learning a new skill. "One thing that will set you apart from the rest are your personal skills. If you are auditioning for the part of a Southern basketball player, an actor who can dribble and speaks the Southern Dialect will be chosen over someone who can't." Beth Marie is currently trying to learn as many dialects as possible including British, French, and Brooklyn. "I almost got down my Southern!" she adds. Beth Marie is a hard worker for sure, and is always looking for ways to improve herself. "You have to work to earn your success. It's what my father always taught me." On the rare occasion that she has down time, you can spot her hanging out with her boyfriend and close friends. "You need to work hard… but you also need some time to play."
