YH Magazine Meets Tim Horgan This month YH Magazine brings you an exclusive interview with Tim Horgan who actually is a winner of 3 Emmys and happens to be CT's own! Q) What does Bluefoot Entertainment do? Bluefoot is a high end Television and Film Production company based in West Hartford, CT. We work primarily with ESPN, ABC Sports, MLB, the New Balance Athletic Shoe Co., and a variety of other companies. We offer the highest quality creative work, using the highest quality equipment available. Since opening in November of 2003, Bluefoot has won multiple National Sports Emmy awards, an Edward R. Murrow award, numerous New York Festival awards, and a couple handfuls of National Telly production Awards.
Q) Why Bluefoot? Vacationing in the Galapagos Islands prior to the conception of Bluefoot Entertainment, we came across a very strange bird called the Blue-footed Booby. The bird is known for its goofy demeanor and unorthodox behavior. As we started throwing around names for the company, we wanted something that would reflect our own light-hearted approach to life and work, as well as something that would speak for our creativity, which is what we take most seriously. Bluefoot was born, and the name continues to spark conversation and interest. Q) How does it feel to be nominated for an Emmy? Being nominated for an Emmy is a great and humbling feeling. Every year we take a deep breath and log on to the National Sports Emmy page hoping to see just one nomination. This year, along with my friend and colleague, Matt McCormick, we were nominated for 5 Emmy's in total. A big surprise for sure. But as great as it is to be nominated, nothing beats when they call your name and hand you the statue. From there comes the drive and determination to maintain and excel the quality of our work every year… which is something we all look forward to. Q) Connecticut is becoming the newest hub for the Hollywood film industry, what role do you see for Bluefoot in the next coming years? The first reaction for most is the huge financial benefit for Connecticut. For me, I am more excited to witness and partake in the creative benefit to the state. Having been born in Washington D.C., we moved to the Hartford area when I was in elementary school. I have always thought of CT as my home, so along with my two brothers Daniel and Denis, Bluefoot intends to help put this state on the map not just in Post Production, but Production, Writing, and any other side of the business we can lend our creativity to.
Q) What’s after an Emmy, an Oscar? "It beats hauling bricks up a ladder," my father Denis always says... and it's couldn't be more true. It may sound like a stock line, but we are all just happy to be doing what we do. We have made countless friends and allies at ESPN and plan to maintain that relationship for a long time to come. But we are also looking to the future. Awards are great and a nice validation of what we do, but our goal is to stay hungry and always focus on being different and creative. When you're on top there's no where to go but down. So we intend to always push on towards the summit, but never rest on top of it.
