YH Magazine Meets Akvila This month YH Magazine brings you an interview with Akvila who is a bartender at the Russell. What's the best line somebody has used to get a free drink from you? Usually trying to use the owner’s name…this is when I simply say that the drink might be on the house, but the tip is not included!
What's the most interesting/scandalous thing that's happened to you on the job? Once a customer decided to bring his own bottle of Grey Goose to the bar and demanded a shot glass! When I refused, he left the bar for a few minutes, and came back with his own set of shot glasses! I was amazed at his boldness! He stayed all night and left me an incredible tip! What is your bartender pet peeve? There are so many! My biggest pet peeve has to be the people that don’t tip, and then come back and ask me to make their drink stronger. Also, one of the most irritating things that someone can do is flick their fingers at me to get my attention! That is just plain rude! What is your least favorite drink to make? Well, that’s not a very fair question! I’m a bartender, if I did not like the drinks I make; I would never show up to work! Tea is also one of my least favorite drinks to make. Who would YOU want to have a drink with and why? That’s easy – Denzel Washington! He’s is my favorite actor, and one of the sexiest man I have ever seen!
