YH Magazine Meets Anish This month YH Magazine brings you an interview with Anish Patney, Director of Food & beverage at Marriott Hartford Downtown. Where are you from? I’m originally from New Delhi, India. I’ve been living in the U.S. for ten years. I attended Johnson and Wales University and graduated with an MBA in Hospitality Management.
How did the Marriott Hartford Downtown bring a new vitality to downtown Hartford? This hotel has redefined Hartford as a premier travel and business destination, and has played a significant role in the revitalization of downtown. It’s the only AAA Four-Diamond hotel in the Hartford, not to mention the only hotel that’s been built in the city in the last 20 years. The monthly parties at Crush have become a staple of Hartford’s nightlife. How do you keep the momentum going? We try to stay on the cutting edge of what people are looking for in a night out. Crush constantly reinvents itself with new, unique themes and DJs that know how to work the crowd with great music in a fun and sophisticated atmosphere. What is your most popular cocktail? People love the 'Capri Cooler'. It’s made with limoncello muddled with citrus, mint, basil and iced vodka. Our bartenders are constantly inventing these delicious concoctions and adding them to the menu, so any time you come in, there will probably be a new one you’ve never tasted. What is your recipe for success? Since opening, VIVO has gained many awards as well as the prestigious Zagat stamp of approval. We have a menu that changes seasonally to incorporate the best local ingredients. And the restaurant itself is stunning—our open kitchen, wood burning brick oven, two private dining rooms and soaring ceilings really make a statement. We also have two exceptional chefs that bring years of experience to our kitchen and an extensive wine list which complements our cuisine. At VIVO, we strive to provide a complete and unique dining experience; one that our valued guests will remember for a long time to come.
