GHAC
Scavenger Hunt @ Travelers
Clue:
Which Downtown Hartford sculpture by internationally known artist
Carl Andre was commissioned in honor of the 50th Anniversary of
Hartford Foundation for Public Giving? It caused quite a stir in
Hartford when it was installed in 1977. (Hint: It’s a “stone’s”
throw from the Travelers Tower!)
The answer to this Hartford fun fact, the Stone Field Sculpture, a
36-stone sculpture planted in 8 rows in a triangular shape, was part
of Travelers’ Greater Hartford Arts Council (GHAC) United Arts
Campaign. The annual campaign took place during the week of June
2nd. This year, Travelers introduced a new, interactive way for
employees to get involved in the campaign by providing a Scavenger
Hunt centered around the Hartford Arts. In addition to having fun,
participants learned how their favorite museum, stage, or restaurant
may be affiliated with GHAC while getting an opportunity to win
great prizes.
Teams were provided with clues that led them to GHAC affiliated
locations such as Hartford Stage, Old State House, Vaughan’s Public
House and even the Bushnell Park Carousel! They were then asked to
take “creative” photos with their discoveries and put together a
photo montage. The First Place team was determined by the Travelers
community through an online vote. This year’s winning team included
Sarah Cote, Rachel Bader, Katie Brown, and Julie Turner. They will
be attending the Maroon 5 concert at the Dodge Center with pre-party
access as part of their prize. Congratulations to the winning team!
